Naturally

Hard to describe how I’m feeling these days … I’m getting more and more excited, the closer we get. We’ve gotten so much done in terms of getting things ready for him to show up. I’ve definitely lost track of what day of the week it is and what time of day it is. We’ve been eating lunch around 2 or 3. It’s nice and hot outside like a dragon breathing down your neck, but it just makes me think I’m in Florida or somewhere with water just down the street. Luckily it won’t be too much longer for Michelle in this heat. Our friends and family have been wonderful through this entire process, but especially now. All the encouragement and thoughts and prayers are greatly appreciated.

I bought Michelle a Trevor painting and gave it to her on our due date. It’s a small painting of a bee. In fact, it’s so small it’s called “Tiny.” But he’s one of our favorite artists and she was very happy :) It’s going to go somewhere in the nursery.

We’ve watched so many videos of births over the past few months (on top of watching countless episodes of Baby Story and Bringing Home Baby over the last nine months) and I really feel great about our whole “natural” decision. Doctors are wonderful and so are hospitals. But seeing and hearing story after story after story about how amazing women’s bodies are and how well-suited they are to cope with labor and birth, I’m just moved and honored and in awe that Michelle wants to do this. It’s what her body was designed for. Everybody’s got their reasons to do what they do, and that’s wonderful. We certainly have our reasons for going this route, and it just excites the heck out of me that I’m going to get to be a part of it.
